A Decade of Impact: AIIB’s 10th Annual Meeting in Beijing

The 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors will be held in our host city of Beijing. From June 24 to 26, we welcome our Members, partners, business leaders, civil society organizations, media and global experts at the China National Convention Center II.

Our 2025 theme, “Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity,” reflects AIIB’s strategic focus: the role of infrastructure in enabling connectivity and growth, and the essential role of cooperation in solving today’s development challenges.

The Bank’s flagship event is not only a celebration of our first decade of growth and impact. It’s an important opportunity for our stakeholders to discuss the Bank’s future and reaffirm our mission.

Preview of This Year’s Annual Meeting

The Annual Meeting brings together AIIB’s Board of Governors, representing all our Members. A key highlight of this year’s Annual Meeting is the election of the new President, marking our first presidential change since the Bank began operations in 2016. Also, this year’s gathering is especially significant as it launches AIIB@10, the celebration of AIIB’s 10th anniversary, where we will feature some of the Bank’s key achievements in advancing sustainable economic development, creating wealth and improving infrastructure connectivity across our Members in Asia and beyond.

Over 3,500 participants will engage in the three-day program organized around the four pillars of our Corporate Strategy: Green and Sustainable Financing, Cross-border Connectivity and Regional Cooperation, Leveraging Private Capital, and Digital Transformation and Smart Infrastructure. We will also discuss our innovative governance and global cooperation.

Registered participants to the AIIB Annual Meeting can take part in public seminars that will focus on such topics as driving cross-border connectivity through private investment, decarbonizing infrastructure through innovative technologies, harnessing technology to develop sustainable infrastructure, mainstreaming biodiversity in infrastructure investments and many more.

Our program also features AIIB Marketplace sessions, which will showcase our operations in action through project spotlights and thematic discussions. Registered participants can learn about how companies and industries are aligning their activities with the Paris Agreement, how AIIB partners with top financial institutions to mobilize capital for climate-aligned infrastructure in emerging markets and how AIIB ensures good governance through internal audit and evaluation. Other Marketplace presentations focus on some of AIIB’s newest offerings, including the Climate Policy-Based Financing instrument and our inaugural digital bond. These are just a few of the many sessions taking place next week. In addition, a series of side events, such as signing ceremonies, launch events, and networking activities, will create more space for collaboration and practical solutions. A complete overview of the program can be found here.

A Decade of Growth and Impact

AIIB is a multilateral development bank (MDB) built by the international community to finance infrastructure that supports our Members in achieving their development goals. Our 57 founding members established AIIB to foster broad-based economic development and promote regional cooperation through investment in infrastructure and other productive sectors.

AIIB has grown significantly and achieved considerable progress over the past decade. Today, we work with our 110 approved Members from every continent across the globe. AIIB Members represent over 80% of the world’s population and account for nearly two-thirds of global gross domestic product.

We invest in infrastructure to lift lives and serve communities. In just under 10 years, AIIB has invested more than USD60 billion in over 300 projects in 38 economies. Our projects span from Indonesia to Uzbekistan, from Egypt to Brazil, delivering clean energy, transport networks, water systems and digital connectivity. This creates opportunities for millions of people. By investing in sustainable infrastructure, AIIB unlocks new capital, new technologies and new ways in which to address climate change and to connect Asia, and the world.

Since 2017, we have consistently maintained AAA credit ratings from S&P, Moody’s, and Fitch, a strong testament to our financial strength and the global confidence in AIIB.

As the newest institution in the MDB family, we made sure to forge partnerships with peer MDBs, including the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, to demonstrate our commitment to shared standards, coordinated action and collective impact.

AIIB is poised to continue evolving as a 21st-century MDB, guided by our Corporate Strategy. We aim to grow further in the years to come. We will focus on climate resilience, tech-enabled infrastructure and connectivity that builds bridges. Collaborating with the private sector and mobilizing private capital also remains our key priority.

The next decade will require even stronger collaboration and deeper commitment. Our 10th Annual Meeting is not just a celebration, but a renewed pledge to investing in infrastructure for tomorrow to unlock opportunities today and for generations to come in Asia and beyond.

Flying Rivers: Rain Crossing Terrains

We usually think of water as something that flows through rivers, reservoirs or underground pipes. But a large share of the world’s water moves in a very different way – it travels through the air, crossing borders, then eventually falls on land as raindrops, nurturing life.

We Are Losing the Battle to Invest in Nature. Public-Private Partnerships Can Change This

Humanity’s existence is deeply dependent on a robust and healthy natural world. We depend on nature – and the biodiversity it facilitates – for our food, energy, water, resources, medicine, employment and leisure. Despite this, nature’s vital social, health and economic contributions have been overlooked for centuries. Now, thanks to advances in science and data collection, extraordinary possibilities open to identify and track the impact of – and importantly finance – interventions to restore nature.
