The enhancement of the cross-border connectivity of Cambodia with its neighboring countries is crucial to help the country achieve its growth and development targets. The proposed Cambodia Cross-border Connectivity Enhancement Project (3CEP) aims to improve cross-border connectivity along selected road corridors between Cambodia and Viet Nam. To achieve this objective, 3CEP intends to support the improvement and construction of national roads and cross border facilities (CBFs) along the Cambodia-Viet Nam border.
The Project Preparation Special Fund (PPSF) will be utilized to carry out the feasibility study, develop the detailed engineering designs of the CBFs and roads, and provide preparatory support during the early project’s implementation. The grant will also help with the environmental and social (E&S) assessment and corresponding documentation preparation, following the AIIB's Environmental and Social Policy (ESP).
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) of the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia (GOKC) will implement the majority of the grant (USD2.9 M). AIIB will execute the remaining portion (USD0.1 M) to support MPWT to kick-off the GOKC-executed activities.
