Zou Jiayi is the President and Chair of the Board of Directors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). Before joining AIIB, she was Deputy Secretary-General of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a ministerial-level position. She joined the Ministry of Finance of China in 1988 and held progressively senior roles, including as Assistant Minister of Finance, overseeing international affairs, and Vice Minister of Finance, responsible for financial affairs, tariff policies and international cooperation. She represented China as Alternate Governor for the World Bank Group, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the New Development Bank, and as Governor for the International Fund for Agricultural Development. As Director-General of the International Department and the Department of International Economic Relations at the Ministry of Finance of China, she played a pivotal role in the establishment of AlIB, contributing valuable insights to its founding and development. She also served as World Bank Executive Director for China and Co-dean of the Board of Executive Directors. Her other senior roles include Vice Minister of Supervision and Commissioner of the National Supervisory Commission in China. Zou has over three decades of substantial experience in international development cooperation and is recognized for her extensive experience in international financial institutions and outstanding leadership in consensus-building. She has also been actively engaged in discussions on critical global economic issues across various multilateral and bilateral platforms. She holds a master's degree in International Economic Relations from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Zou is from the People’s Republic of China.
