Call for Public Consultation: Second Phase of the Review of AIIB’s Environmental and Social Framework
The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is pleased to update information about the Public Consultation process for the review of AIIB’s Environmental and Social Framework (ESF).
This follows the commitment made in 2016 to review the ESF after a three-year period. The review is intended to be a focused exercise to update the ESF, reflecting the experience gained in the relatively short time that AIIB has been financing operations. It is being informed by consultations, stakeholder feedback and review of the ESF’s implementation.
As in the first phase of consultations, which ended in March 2020, AIIB is inviting a diverse group of stakeholders to provide comments and suggestions on the revised draft ESF during the second phase of the Public Consultation.
For more information about the ESF review, please see the ESF Review Q and A document.
Consultation for the review is an ongoing two-phase process led by AIIB’s ESF Review Team. The first phase - January 21 to March 20, 2020 - in which we heard your views on the scope, content and implementation of the ESF, has been completed.
This is the second phase, in which we invite your feedback on the Revised Draft ESF, which has now been posted (see below for link). The posted document is a clean version of the Revised Draft ESF showing in blue highlight the substantive changes from the existing ESF. The approximate timeline for the second phase is as follows (AIIB reserves the right to extend the public consultation period):
Phase 2 Consultation: September 8 - November 9, 2020.
