AIIB and BTG Pactual Sign USD160-Million Facility to Expand Climate Infrastructure in Brazil

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and BTG Pactual have signed a seven-year, USD160-million on-lending facility to enable BTG Pactual to finance climate-aligned infrastructure in Brazil. It marks AIIB’s largest private-sector transaction in Brazil to date and its first collaboration with BTG Pactual, Latin America’s largest investment bank.

“This milestone transaction strengthens AIIB’s growing engagement in Latin America while also establishing a long-term partnership with one of Brazil’s most prominent banks,” said Gregory Liu, Director General of Financial Institutions and Funds Clients, Global, at AIIB. “It demonstrates our commitment to catalyzing private capital for sustainable infrastructure, especially in markets with strong climate potential.”

“This important partnership with AIIB reinforces our shared strategic vision of the investments and sectors that need the most support to move towards a low carbon economy,” said Roberto Sallouti, CEO of BTG Pactual.

The transaction will support one of AIIB’s corporate targets—achieving over 50% of annual financing for climate-related investments through 2030—while increasing private capital mobilization, particularly in emerging markets. It also reinforces AIIB’s growing presence in Latin America and commitment to working with leading financial institutions in the region.
