Uzbekistan: Modernization of Irrigation Infrastructure in Tashkent Region Project

DESCRIPTION

This Project Preparation Special Fund (PPSF) grant will support project preparation activities and related implementation support for the Modernization of Irrigation Infrastructure in Tashkent Region Project. The Project has the objective to provide resilient and efficient irrigation water services for 100,000 hectares of irrigated land in the Tashkent region by rehabilitating the main canals and introducing digital solutions supporting a transition to smart water management, contributing to water security.

The PPSF grant will be used for: (a) the conduct of a feasibility study; (b) preparation of environmental and social safeguard instruments; (c) procurement advisory services; (d) auditing services, and (e) supplemental activities to assist the Implementing Entity in accelerating implementation. The grant will also finance individual experts to assist with coordination, procurement, and other project management tasks, such as financial management.

The PPSF grant will be implemented by the Center for Implementation of Foreign Investment Projects in Water Sector under the Ministry of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
