Event description

Water is one of the defining climate and development challenges of our time. Today, 2.2 billion people still lack access to safely managed drinking water, and 3.5 billion people live without safely managed sanitation.

On April 16th, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and CPI will convene "Tackling Water Bankruptcy: The Role of Governance & Finance" on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, DC. With the upcoming launch of AIIB's "Where the Water Flows" report, the event will bring together leaders to explore how stronger governance can help unlock capital and how innovative financing approaches can help close persistent investment gaps in water and sanitation.

The event will feature opening remarks by AIIB President Zou Jiayi, President and Chair of the Board of Directors, AIIB and host important conversations on how we can better align capital, policy, and delivery to build more resilient and inclusive water systems.
