Dominik Wallau has served as a member of the Board of Directors at AIIB since July 1, 2025, representing 15 European Members. He is the Financial Counsellor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beijing, a position he assumed in December 2024. In this role, he is responsible for Sino-German financial policy relations and served as the Alternate Director for the Euro Area Constituency on the Board of Directors at AIIB, representing Germany.
Wallau brings over 20 years of experience, having been with the German Federal Ministry of Finance since 2004. Prior to his posting to Beijing, he was Financial Counsellor at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in New Delhi, India. He previously held various positions in the Federal Budget Department, the Department for Political Staff and Communication, the Department for Federal Financial Relations between federal and state governments in Germany, and the Department for Economic and Fiscal Policy Strategy.
He holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Bonn, Germany and a doctorate degree from the University of Mainz, Germany.
