Rajat Misra

Rajat Misra is Acting Vice President, Investment Operations (Region 1) where he oversees all sovereign and nonsovereign operations in South Asia (except Afghanistan and Pakistan), the Pacific Islands, and South East Asia, including the entire investment cycle from identification, preparation to implementation. He also has joint oversight with the VP for Investment Operations (Region 2) over the Social Infrastructure, Operational Services, and Implementation Monitoring departments. He serves concurrently as the Director General of the Infrastructure Investment Department (Region 1). Prior to joining AIIB in April 2017, Misra spent 18 years at the investment banking arm of the State Bank of India (SBI). He was also Director and Investment Committee member at the SBI Group—Department for International Development (DFID) Fund for Infrastructure. Misra started his career as an R&D engineer at BHEL, a leading power equipment manufacturing company. He holds a post-graduate degree in Business Management from the Xavier School of Management (XLRI), India, and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Varanasi, India. He also attended the Executive Program in Infrastructure at Kennedy School, Harvard University. Misra is from India.
