Ke Fang
Director General, Implementation Monitoring Department
Ke Fang is Director General of the Implementation Monitoring Department (IMD). IMD is responsible for monitoring AIIB’s investment portfolio, including both sovereign-backed and nonsovereign-backed financings. It also monitors and reports implementation performance of the projects that have been transferred from the origination departments to IMD, provides secretariat services to AIIB’s Investment Committee, leads and coordinates the IT system development for investment operations, and coordinates operations related to data analysis and knowledge management. Prior to joining AIIB in July 2016, Fang worked for the World Bank for more than 15 years, holding various responsibilities, including as Global Lead for Urban Mobility, Lead Transport Specialist and head of the India transport team and was instrumental in many innovative investment activities in various countries in Asia and Africa. Fang holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Tsinghua University, where he was a lecturer and research staff from 1997 to 2000. He was also a SPURS Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2000 to 2001. Fang is from the People’s Republic of China.
