DESCRIPTION

The proposed project is a 101MW run-of-river hydroelectric plant designed to be operated as a lower structure of a cascade. The project objectives are to reduce the supply and demand gap by providing additional power to the national grid and to help stabilize the grid by contributing to meeting the daily peak demand. The Special Fund will be used to: 1) mobilize a Panel of Technical Experts to ensure the soundness of the engineering design; and 2) enhance quality of project preparatory activities and processes to meet the Bank’s Environmental and Social Policy.
