Bangladesh: Distribution System Upgrade and Expansion Project

AIIB’s Board of Directors has approved a loan of USD165 million for the Distribution System Upgrade and Expansion Project.
The Project will enhance power distribution capacity and increase the number of rural and urban electricity consumers in Bangladesh.
The Government of Bangladesh welcomed AIIB’s involvement in their national plan to enhance electrical distribution capacity and increase the number of electricity consumers in Bangladesh. The plan is to provide about 2.5 million service connections to rural consumers, upgrade two grid substations and convert 85 kilometers of overhead distribution lines to underground cables.
